Major Owen are the North Wales number 1 dedicated main machinery dealer and parts supplier specialising in five key markets: Agriculture, Domestic, Construction, Pro-Groundcare and Arboriculture.
When Major Owen came to Fotofire their website wasn’t performing as well as they would have liked, looking a little dated and didnt reflect their strong brand values. We were tasked with bringing their new brand to life online with a total re-design of their current site.
We were appointed to produce a fully mobile ready website that would reflect the companies brand values, history and heritage, whilst at the same time showcase their full range of products and services and compliment the companies brand across all media.
Our initial role was to analyse their business requirements and the competitors in the market. From here, we fully scoped the project as a team to ensure all team members and the client was fully aware of the requirements and deliverables.
We worked closely with Major Owen and helped them to migrate their current system over to the easier and simpler WooCommerce system. We redesigned the website to make sure users could easily find the products they wanted and implemented product up-sells and cross-sells so Major Owen can promote alternative products to their users.
We focused our design of the website on giving an energetic, friendly and professional feel. Minimalist design, high impact visuals together with clean interactive menus, really make the website stand out from the competition. Maintaining the strong Major Owen brand, creating a responsive design, increasing product accessability and defining clear calls-to-action, were key to delivering the seamless user journey that would increase website visitors and leads.
Taking inspiration from Major Owen’s existing brand, we designed a new ecommerce site, giving a solid, technical feel while emphasising Major Owen’s origins. With the large selection of products that Major Owen has, it was particularly critical for the CMS to be easily-updatable by Major Owen themselves – meaning that they could add new products to their on-site with ease. We chose to implement the design using a WordPress CMS powered eCommerce platform. We chose the platform for it’s reliability and features, and it’s visual flexibility was an added bonus.
We needed to create an invaluable user experience, so we took the ‘less is more’ approach. The end result is a clean and effortlessly stylish design that speaks for itself, enabling users to view all products with ease and the least possible clicks.
The site we delivered oozed brand personality, boosted user engagement and kept users on site for a great deal longer than the old version.
The website is informative, fully responsive, performing well on all mobile devices with a calculated focus on product delivery and ROI.
