Our Year.

January:

Taking to the skies, re-joining education, and a new addition to the FF fam.

Strictly speaking, we took to the sky in November 2016 but as it has been just over a year we wanted to include this in our look back on 2017. Drone has quickly become a popular medium in which to capture breath-taking footage, and as we live in an area of outstanding natural beauty, we didn’t want to miss out! After receiving the drone Phil spent the next couple of months travelling up and down North Wales capturing awe-inspiring views to add to our portfolio. Since then our impressive videos have taken pride of place on our Vimeo account, and we are looking forward to creating more spectacular footage and sharing it with you next year. Take a look at some of our videos here:

Rolling Waves of Mist Over Llangollen

Early Morning Golden Hour

As we are always looking to expand our knowledge and gain insight, Alex was given the opportunity in early January to begin a Digital Marketing course with the widely recognised marketing institute, The CIM. Since beginning the course Alex has gained a distinction and has now moved onto the next course, and is one step closer to her goal of gaining Chartered Marketer status; which we are thrilled to be able to support. January was also the month we welcomed Leah back to the team from 12 months maternity leave. We had already had the chance to meet darling little Ozzie for a cuddle, but it was great to have Leah back in the office! As Ozzie has gotten to know everyone, he has really claimed the office as his own, stamping around ensuring everyone knows of his presence and his well-sculpted Mohican!

February:

Thinking time..

February was a month of contemplation as we stepped back and considered what Fotofire really was, and why we do what we do. After many long discussions and brainstorms, our first Culture Book was born. A hardback matt-laminate book that holds our core values, what we strive to achieve, and a complete insight into Fotofire as an organisation. This has become a popular piece of literature that is shared with new starters to bring them quickly up to speed on Fotofire, and it even includes the odd Walking Dead joke..

March:

The first Networkshop.

An idea was born, we wanted to be able to get local business people together to inspire each other, share ideas, and learn. We didn’t want it to be a standard Networking meeting, so we decided to deliver specialised workshops with an opportunity before and after to network. Gail Biddulph delivered the first presentation, where she discussed the power of tiny tweaks and the effect they can have on the bigger picture. The first event went down a storm with all attendees giving great feedback and booking in for the following meetings. Keep an eye out for the topics and dates in the New Year.

April:

Welcome Steve!

On the 18th April we welcomed Steve to the team, who was immediately put to the test and was set to complete our ‘Great Balls of Fire’ game. The idea of the game is to pot all the balls on the pool table, as quickly as you can, in the shortest amount of time possible. Steve’s time was 4:50:49, not too bad.. A week for Steve usually includes lots of discussions and brainstorms with the team about upcoming and active projects, and creating magnificent and intricate designs. Since joining Steve has been known to tinker with HTML, and enjoys getting involved with a project from beginning to end. Great job Steve, here’s to many more years to come.

May:

Fotofire Ahoy!

We were so pleased to get the chance to head over to Llangollen outdoors and take to the rapids in early May. We travelled 4km along the River Dee, battling the Serpents tail, the Boulder blast, the Tombstones and many more cleverly named twists and turns. The whole experience lasted around 3 hours and flew by as we all had such great fun. We were split over two boats, and had an instructor in each raft who showed huge knowledge and ensured everyone was safe and calm at all times. A couple of us were destined to plummet into the Dee as soon as we set foot in the raft, but this only added to the experience and gave us the unmissable opportunity of shouting ‘’MAN OVERBOARD’’. A hilarious and unforgettable experience, which we hope to repeat soon by taking on White Water Tubing!

June:

Welcome Jake!

In June we were happy to welcome Jake to the team who brought many years of experience and impressive insight into the world of UX & UI design. Since joining, Jake has settled in very quickly, cementing an already tightknit and hardworking team together. A common week in Jakes role consists of keeping the office running smoothly, overseeing and planning all projects, implementing any UX, UI or wireframing, writing and presenting proposals and generally keeping up to speed with everything that goes on at Fotofire. Jake has become a very important part of the team, and we look forward to many more years working together! June was also a big month for Kieran who moved into his first house with his girlfriend, after months of searching for the perfect property. Since then we have had our very own David Dickinson as Kieran is constantly on the look out for vintage bargains to adorn the walls of his new house.

July:

A busy month all round!

During the month we kicked off a number of a wide range of projects including, Elucidate, Brownlow, Room to Think, and A&B Airsystems. During the beginning of the project we aim to get to know our new clients as much as we can, so July consisted of lots of meetings, visits, and research. As well as many new clients to welcome, we had the pleasure of welcoming, Margo, Edith, and Agnes! Three beautiful ferrets that spent two days in the office getting to know us. There’s nothing like a fluffy hop, skip and a jump to get people giggling.

August:

Holiday Month!

July is infamously a busy time due to it being holiday month, and that was certainly the case at Fotofire! We had members of Fotofire jet-setting off in all directions to enjoy a well-deserved break and some summer sun. Steve headed off to Austria for 2 weeks of exploring and getting to know the culture. Sadly, he didn’t return to work wearing Lederhosen. Kieran on the other hand flew off to the slightly hotter destination of Skiathos, Greece. We were lucky to receive lots of videos of his antics by the pool as he let his hair down and enjoyed a beer or 12. Barcelona also received a visitor as Alex went to visit her friend who had moved over a year beforehand, she returned with lots of interesting tasting sweets for everyone to try, funnily enough.. There is still some lying round! Jake whisked his family off for a long 10 days of family fun on the beach and around the pool in Cala Ratjada Majorca. Meanwhile back in the office, the team worked tirelessly  ensuring deadlines were hit, and work was impressive. Well-done team!

September:

Launch Month!

We launched many websites and got some amazing results in September. After 2 months of hard work, Brownlow website was launched and it immediately received compliments on its beautiful simplistic design. Brownlow’s old website was very text heavy and basic, and it did not often receive any enquiries. After  minutes of announcing the new website was live, they received their first enquiry via a contact form on the website. This resulted in a very happy client, and team! We then received a fabulous testimonial from Brownlow which we are very happy to share ‘’ Fotofire have been nothing but superb since day 1. Everyone there is incredibly professional and has a great eye for detail. They are true experts in their fields, and our new website looks better than we could have imagined. We could not recommend enough‘’. A couple of weeks after launch, Brownlow invited the team to a night of swashbuckling at their annual party, which was pirate themed! The decoration at the party was unbelievable; the stern of a boat had been purchased as a centrepiece!

October:

Happy Birthday Fotofire!

We celebrated our 17th Birthday on the 19th and ensured lots of cake was consumed! We reached out to thank our amazing clients we’ve gotten to know throughout the years as nothing would have been possible without them, we also spread thanks to our wonderful and committed team. Towards the end of the month we opened up invitations to the first BNI event that Phil had organised and hosted in Tower Hill Barns, a spectacular wedding venue towards Llangollen. The event has already brought together great groups of business people and is proving to be a great success. The event is held once every two weeks, be sure to get in touch if you would like more information.

November:

Phil and Leah's holiday!

Phil and Leah took to the roads and enjoyed a peaceful week in a camper van travelling to Scotland, and The Isle of Skye. We were pleased to receive some gorgeous photos back in the office, including a stunning shot of a Stag standing proudly in front of snow topped mountains. Our favourite however, was definitely this perfect family selfie ft. the Stag.

December:

New clients join the family!

We are happy to welcome many new clients to Fotofire this December. Pescado will be joining Fotofire as clients, and are looking for a complete website and marketing overhaul which we are very excited about. Also, we are pleased to share that we will be making a start on the new Tower Hill Barns website very soon. For the rest of the month, we are going to make sure that there is lots of festive cheer, hot mugs of cocoa, and mince pies around. It really has been a fantastic year for Fotofire, and we look forward to sharing the next with you.
