The Log People Ltd is a family-run sawmilling and firewood business based in Oswestry. They supply ready to burn hardwood, softwood and kindle to homes and businesses throughout North Wales and the North West of England.
We were tasked with providing an eCommerce platform that allows for rapid expansion through features and advanced functionality. With a burning desire to get this right, our ecommerce focused design and development teams worked their magic to deliver a vastly improved customer experience, along with a more streamlined system for managing orders and website content for the The Log People team.
The time had come to embrace a more upmarket look which included a new brand strategy and website. The old website, whilst functional, didn’t offer customers a great experience online, as a result their customers would turn to their phone to place orders rather than self-serving online.
Our first goal was to create an improved user experience for both new and existing customers, to make the online experience easier so customers felt empowered to self-serve, rather than having to call up to place an order or register for an account which had been a fairly common occurrence.
We worked closely with The Log People to understand common questions being asked by customers and the purchasing challenges their customers regularly encountered, this gave us some important insight which helped to shape the new website.
Understanding and mapping out wireframes and user journeys was a critical feature of the new website design. Because we were going beyond a simple online brochure and needed to generate sales leads, we had to define specific user goals such as product purchasing, additional services, FAQ’S and environmental policies. It was clear that the UX design and content presentation then had to guide users towards those important goals.
Alongside this the site design needed to reinforce the core brand values of quality, reliability and great service, while clearly presenting product information and tips, together with customer support. We recognised early on that all of these were factors in convincing potential customers to buy online.
The team at The Log People Ltd are delighted with the new website; their strong visual identity and the ease of use has already attracted a number of compliments and exciting new enquiries.
Not only have they received a contemporary and customer-centric website, but we have also ensured that the The Log People Ltd team are happy to take the website forward. The site has an easy-to-manage WooCommerce backend to ensure their products and offers can be updated regularly.
